I had the privilege of attending this year’s Go4th missions conference with my wife. 9 years ago, we attended the first ever Go4th in Aug 2002, and were challenged, convicted and inspired by the likes of George Verwer (Founder, OM) and Bob Sjogren (Cat and Dog Theology). This year was the first time we had gone back, held every 3 years, its 4th run this round.
One of the main speakers was Ps Peter Tsukahira, a man who described himself as one with a Japanese face, with an American accent, and holding an Israeli passport. He was born in America, a second generation Japanese, married a Jewish wife, and has been serving in a church plant reaching out to Messianic Jews @ Mount Carmel, Israel for more than 20 years. He shared at one of the workshops and also spoke at one of the night rallies.
What struck me most about him was his perspectives on missions, end times, and particularly, the role and place of national Israel. He had the most unique background and life experience, a great mix of East-West (Asian, American) and Middle East. One thing that stuck with me was his broad overview of the history of world evangelisation, or the spread of the gospel from the early church, specifically Paul’s being led by the Spirit to Macedonia (Europe), and how the gospel continued to go west from Europe, to America, to now to Asia, and one day, back to Jerusalem (Middle East).
