Sitting in mandated quarantine back in Singapore this morning, returning with my family after 2 years in the States for my PhD studies, God has been reminding me of His sovereignty and protection, especially throughout the Covid pandemic (since early 2020).

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!”
For it is He who delivers you from … the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with His pinions,
And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield & bulwark.

Psalm 91.1-4 #psalm91

God also brought to mind the song “Still” which describes the imagery of God hiding us under His wings, through the waves and storms of life, stilling our hearts/minds and lives, and knowing that God is God (and we are not). Interestingly, it even specifically mentions that God will deliver us from the “deadly pestilence” (v.3). I believe this passage was also an anchor during the not-so-distant past of SARS in Singapore and beyond. My heart is filled with thanks and gratitude as I remember His goodness blessing me through my 2 years of studies thus far, watching over my family especially through (and still in) Covid, His wisdom and guidance in directing our family to the States and now returning back, and despite all the bumps, ups and downs, peaks and valleys, He has been with us every step of the way, 2 moves out of and now (in process) settling back in Singapore (and all the packing, cleaning, moving, flying!).

Dwelling in the the Most High’s shelter, abiding in the Almighty’s shadow, trusting in our faithful God, our refuge, our fortress, our shield – praise be to God!
